Replace Six 48″ manholes with Six FL100 Black-HD manholes 4-Diesel and 2-Gasoline

Henrich selected OPW Fibrelite FL100 composite manhole covers for the replacement of the six 48″ steel covers. Center fill covers were used to allow for easy access to tank fill risers and solid covers were used for access to containment sumps.

Objective: 

• Reduce water entry into containment sump
• Reduce time required to perform weekly inspections
• Reduce expenses and liability to remove covers

Problem:

Henrich was contracted to replace six steel manholes.  Our client was dealing with increasing water entry into the containment sumps and man-ways due to deterioration and corrosion in the steel covers.  A major concern also identified was the time and effort it took to remove the 48″ steel covers. Two men were required to remove the manhole covers.  Not only was it costly to perform visual inspections of the containment sumps but a liability if someone were to strain their back when removing the cover.

Results:

• 100% water-tight manhole
• One man required to remove and replace manhole cover
• Reduction in potential workman’s compensation liability due to injury
• Weekly sump inspections can be performed in a matter of minutes
